Memeland, cross-platform content giant 9GAG’s first NFT collection, is set to reveal the fourth stage of its Potatoz NFT, along with some other exciting news for the community.
Memeland, the brains behind the popular Potatoz NFT project, is set to reveal the latest stage of the Potatoz ecosystem next week. A recent announcement through Memeland’s official Twitter account revealed other exciting news for the community.
The tweet explicitly mentioned five important to-dos for Memeland this week, including a prize draw, the reveal of Potatoz Stage 4, the revamped website, MVP staking, and a town hall meeting, perhaps to cap the week off.
Getting to Know the Potatoz NFTs
Potatoz NFTs comprise 9,999 profile picture NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain. Each Potatoz NFT is utility-enabled. Only NFT holders can enter the Memeland ecosystem since each NFT serves as an entry ticket.
The said ecosystem is attributed to having “invented” the “grow-to-earn” staking mechanism. Through this mechanism, users can lock up their Potatoz NFT and participate in a raffle-based prize system and so much more.
At this time of writing, the floor price for Potatoz is 1.49 ETH, with less than one percent of all NFTs in the project listed on OpenSea.
Currently, Potatoz is in Stage 3 of its development. The current roster of Potatoz NFTs showcases muscular potatoes in different colors, which can be considered an upgrade from the dancing Potatoz of Stage 2. It remains to be seen what Stage 4’s artwork will involve, as everyone from the team is being mysterious about it.
Little information can be had from Memeland’s current revamped website, seeing as how it is only one page. It also doesn’t give out hints about the project’s future goals. Everyone assumes that the revamped website will add MVP staking and the new artwork for Potatoz Stage 4. Still, all these are merely assumptions, and the Memeland group is yet to confirm the information.
What Is Memeland?
We have been mentioning Memeland since the beginning of this article, but what is Memeland? This collection also comprises 9,999 NFTs and is a creation of 9GAG. Yes, the same 9GAG that never fails to put a smile on the faces of Internet surfers and make them laugh with hilarious memes. However, the project doesn’t have a roadmap. That’s because, according to the team, there is no such thing as a “road” at sea.
“9GAG has always endeavored to make the world a happier place, be it through memes or other creative content, and our new ‘Memeland’ is no different,” said Kevin Kwong, general manager of 9GAG, during the NFT collection’s reveal.
The NFT collection comes with a string of perks and benefits for holders. Holders of Memeland NFTs gain access to private club membership, the creator NFT marketplace, in-real-life events, upcoming drops, and so much more.
The 9,999 NFTs are called ‘Captains,’ and with their pirate crews, they voyage the vastness of the “Broken Sea.” Each of these Captains has one collective goal—to find the legendary island holding unimaginable treasures known as “Memeland.”
Although only bits and pieces are revealed about Memeland as days progress, one thing is sure. The project has a solid bunch of investors and advisors backing it up. Among the famous people in the Web3 space who have lent their support to the project include Belarusian-American entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, investor Timothy Ferriss, and Proof Collective’s Kevin Rose.
Several venture capital firms also have Memeland’s back, including First Round Capital, Greycroft Partners, Freestyle Capital, 500 Startups, True Venture, and other firms that provide seed-stage funding to startup technology companies.
