RTFKT, the world’s first augmented reality (AR) e-commerce sneakerhead brand, has announced the Clone X Forging SZN 1, a first in phygital fashion collection.

RTFKT, the world’s first augmented reality (AR) e-commerce sneakerhead brand and touted as the world’s best NFT fashion project, has announced another revolutionary forging mechanism—the Clone X Forging SZN 1. According to the brand’s Twitter announcement, the products will be a first in phygital (physical + digital) fashion.

Incidentally, Clone X NFT avatars are a creation of the RTFKT Studios. Clone X NFTs are 3D anime avatars, also known as the profile picture (PFP) NFT collection. There are 20,000 items in the collection and over 300 3D traits.

Understanding the Clone X Foging SZN 1

When it started, RTFKT immediately gained notoriety for inventing a world-emerging forging mechanism that allows its collectors to redeem exclusive physical products from their NFT counterparts. However, RTFKT is taking its infamous forging mechanic to the next level with Clone X Forging SZN 1.

With Clone X Forging SZN 1, RTFKT has developed unique brands and bespoke fashion collections for each Clone X DNA type, featuring footwear and apparel. There are eight Clone X DNA types, with the rarest DNA having only 15-50 avatars—Human, Alien, Reptile, Robot, Undead, Angel, Demon, and Murakami.

Each brand will be accessible to Clone X holders based on the DNA of the Clone X NFT they own. Each Clone X NFT holder can mint up to two wearable NFT items. The physical items are redeemable during the forging period.

The physical items will feature near-field communication (NFC) tags, a feature that RTFKT first integrated into the RTFKT x Nike AR Hoodie, the first physical-plus-digital wearable clothing item that Nike is launching in partnership with RTFKT Studios. The NFC tag makes it possible to track the apparel using AR.

The NFC tags on the items included in the Clone X Forging SZN1 will connect the virtual and physical worlds to the owners’ drips. Moreover, aside from apparel from the eight DNA types, there will also be a Genesis collection for all Clone X holders.

There will be ten collections from the iconic Clone X DNAs. Clone X NFT holders will have the opportunity to unlock full digital and physical looks for their avatars through their DNA/trait, with items ranging from caps to jackets and sneakers. The previously mentioned NFC tech will work to merge two distinct worlds, making the Clone X Forging SZN 1 collectibles the first fully phygital fashion collection.

Among the collections that users can watch out for is the Murakami Drip collection. Mechanics of Clone X Forging SZN 1

Each Clone X holder has the chance to mint up to two of each item from the DNA collection + Murakami Drip. For example, a user can mint two caps and two hoodies from the Robot collection.

As for the Clone X Genesis Collection that was briefly discussed earlier, included there are limited edition items made exclusive for all Clones. The designs are inspired by the iconic Clone X visuals and Clone X smart contract.

The Clone X Genesis Collection is limited to one mint per item. However, all Clones will have the chance to mint and forge the Genesis T-shirt for free.

Minting will go live on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at these times: 11 am CET, 9 am GMT, 5 am ET, and 2 am PT. According to RTFKT, the mint window will be open for one week, through to September 7. The forging period for the physical items will be from September 7 to 14.

Clone X NFT holders are encouraged to hold on to their NFTs, as they will need them to link to the NFC tech once they receive the physical products.

There will also be ten RTFKT x Nike X Air Force 1 sneakers rocking the iconic Swoosh and the Blade, as imagined by RTFKT. Nevertheless, the sneakers forging will not be part of the Clone X Forging SZN 1. Instead, these will be available as digital wearables for the time being.

RTFKT’s tweet ends on a teasing note, implying that the phygital items from the Clone X Forging SZN 1 could grant Clone X NFT holders access to future physical events and drops. It also hints that the items may be interlinked to unlock experiences or be used to customize holders’ avatars.
