The Azuki NFT project’s quest to bring more utility to its holders is in full throttle as it recently released the “Azuki Twin Tigers” jacket.

The Azuki NFT project’s mission to bring one-of-a-kind utilities to its holders knows no boundaries. During the NFT LA Conference, the Azuki team debuted the prototypes of the “Azuki Twin Tigers” jackets.

This time around, they airdropped a unique token to all Azuki NFT holders that they can redeem for Azuki’s maiden physical drop—a limited edition Twin Tigers jacket.

Inspiration for the Twin Tigers Jackets

According to Azuki’s official website, the Azuki Twin Tiger jackets are inspired by the “sukajan” jackets. The sukajan, or souvenir, jacket takes inspiration from the typical varsity jacket we usually see worn by students in American universities.

It is said that after the Second World War ended, what remained of parachute capes were transformed by American soldiers into light jackets. These were then decorated with military-inspired motifs and diversified with a mélange of American and Japanese cultures.

So, these jackets are classic fashion pieces dating back to the 1940s. It is a testament to the melding of American and Japanese cultures, as these American-style baseball jackets use embroidery, silk, and other Japanese influences.

What’s So Special About the Jackets?

The Azuki Twin Tiger jackets, as you can see from the image above, are crafted from quilted Japanese silk and features Italian nickel zippers. The jackets feature off-white ribbing, eco-insulation, chenille embroidery, and handmade chain stitch.

The jackets are also reversible. One side is blue, featuring the chain stitch and chenille embroidered tiger with the sleeves and chest likewise sporting embroidered details. In contrast, the red side features the Azuki logo in red embroidery. These jackets are probably among the best NFT merchandise drops in recent times. Each jacket is worth $2,000, but Azuki NFT holders can get one for free.

What’s special about these jackets is that Azuki will be donating all royalties from secondary market tradings of the tokens to Stand with Asians in commemoration of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. Stand with Asians is a grassroots organization driving awareness of the challenges facing the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

How to Redeem the Azuki Twin Tiger Jackets

All Azuki NFT holders can redeem each token received via airdropping for one jacket. If the token is blue, a holder has yet to redeem a jacket. Upon redemption of a jacket, the jacket will burn the blue token, replacing it with a red one. Should a holder fail to redeem the blue token before the redemption window closes, the token will remain blue as a collectible.

Azuki NFT holders are given 30 days to redeem their jackets. They only need to visit the project’s website to start redeeming. Azuki will announce the first day of the redemption window.

Official announcements will probably be made through the project’s website and Azuki’s official Twitter account, so all Azuki holders must stay tuned. Again, there will only be 30 days to redeem the physical jackets. Also, the redemption process is totally free for all token holders.
