Bored Apes Yacht Club relies on two drivers to keep it consistently within the top 5 NFT collections. Presently at $1.38 billion total sales, BAYC provides holders with free drops, such as Kennel Club and Mutant Serum, and secondly, online social club benefits. As a self-fulfilling meta-project, BAYC gives ape holders exclusive access to social and business networking.
However, those who already have a successful career often update their public persona so their followers know they are in the know. Such is the case with the latest celebrity to reveal BAYC acquisition, Ozzy Osbourne.
Ozzy Osbourne Gets a Pink Ape

John Michael Osbourne, aka Ozzy Osbourne, jumpstarted his career within a heavy metal Black Sabbath band. In the 1980s, the British musician started a solo singing career, boosting his performance with shenanigans that would put even teenagers to shame. These range from biting the head off a dove and stripping in public to shooting cats, throwing meat on his audience, and abusing drugs.
For better or worse, this public persona earned him a dedicated following. Going by the handle The Prince of Darkness, he has 5.3 million followers on Twitter. It is from that media stronghold where he revealed his newly acquired Bored Ape $9939 for 114.99 ETH ($334,786).
This means that the pink-furred ape with Vietnam-era helmet appreciated by 2,605% since he was last sold for only 4.25 ETH last July. If people ask you what is the draw in NFT trading, you can always point them to this flipping example.
What Are CryptoBatz?

In line with Ozzy’s satanic dark theme, he said in his tweet that a CryptoBat will bite the Bored Ape and create a MutantBat. CryptoBatz is the NFT collection Ozzy launched this year, consisting of 9,666 animated bats. To increase their reach across collections, Ozzy gave them a mechanic similar to Mutant Serum that birthed the freakish Mutant Ape Yacht Club.
“Biting” other NFTs means interacting with other NFT smart contracts, mixing up their attributes. Alongside Bored Apes, Ozzy’s bats could bite into CrypToads, CyberKongz, SupDucks, and Alien Frens. After his wife Sharon did the deed with CryptoBat #61, the blue bat turned pink and also got coins for eyes.
However, CryptoBatz sales are not doing as well as Ozzy hoped, which is probably why he bought a Bored Ape to make his NFT collection span wider bat wings. As of February, it is ranked 90 at $50.5 million total sales, not receiving much activity since the initial drop in January.

With that said, $50 million is not bad either for a two-month-old collection. On the other hand, it’s not like Ozzy needs to make it big with his estimated net worth at $220 million.
