Both Gala Games and AMC announced their latest collaboration, which will bring iconic characters from “The Walking Dead” to life in the Metaverse.
Gala Games and AMC, the network behind the hit TV series “The Walking Dead,” are collaborating once again. This time around, they will bring to life a new and exclusive collection of TWD VOX Avatars. These TWD NFT VOX characters will drop on March 28. Both Gala Games and AMC made the announcement on their respective Twitter pages.
The gaming studio and AMC already have a long-standing partnership. Their latest joint project will be “The Walking Dead: Empires,” a blockchain-based town-building game. Gala Games is dropping 8,888 of these VOX NFTs based on TWD characters like Rick Grimes and Michonne as hype marketing for the game’s release. Each character is uniquely created with random traits assigned upon minting based on rarity and type.
The $GALA amount of each unique character from the TV series is yet to be announced. Those who wish to mint a TWD VOX NFT are advised to visit Gala Games’ official website on March 28 with a wallet-full of $GALA.
Those who will purchase the characters will not be able to decide which TWD character to onboard before their Metaverse trek. That’s because the identities of the VOX Avatars will stay hidden until the big reveal on April 7. Word is going around, though, that around half of the VOX boxes will contain Walker VOX, each in various stages of decay.
VOX Characters in “The Walking Dead: Empires”
For those who may not be aware, a VOX is a one-of-a-kind and randomly created 3D avatar found on the Ethereum blockchain as an NFT. Each avatar is given a distinct set of traits during minting to ensure that each one is and stays unique. Also, some characters are rarer than others.
For the TWD VOX NFTs, Gala Games worked closely with Ember Entertainment and AMC’s development teams to create a powerful system of in-game boosts and offer a fully-immersive survival MMORPG experience to players. Players will be able to place their TWD VOX in specific areas within the game to boost certain gameplay stats. And while each in-game VOX character feature power-ups, the rarer ones offer more benefits.
Moreover, land ownership will be incorporated into the game. The land plots will host the owner’s base camp, and the VOX characters can be placed there to start earning passive boost rewards.
For instance, a Daryl Dixon VOX placed in the base camp’s trophy case will provide a passive benefit to the owner and its allies when fighting with crossbows. Meanwhile, players who place a Hershel Greene VOX on a coffee table increase the chances of creating highly-efficient medical items at the med lab.
It’s not surprising that “The Walking Dead: Empires” is becoming one of the highly-anticipated blockchain-based gaming projects from Gala Games. The TWD VOX NFT collectibles’ upcoming launch only increases the hype and brings fans a step closer to a fully immersive gaming experience.
